5 Proven Tips On How To Increase Your Blog Traffic – Have you ever looked at your blog’s analytics and wondered when the hordes of visitors are going to start showing up?

You’re publishing great content and have something to say, but try as you might, those traffic numbers just don’t seem to be climbing as much as they should be.

The truth is, it doesn’t have to be that way – you can get way more traffic to your blog and in this post I’ll show you how.
There are a lot of tactics listed below and when used in the right way they can have a huge impact on your traffic.
For example, I’ve seen people put only a few of these tactics into action and see a 400%+ increase in traffic. Awesome right?!
The key here is to focus on a single tactic, make it work and then try something else. If you try too many at the same time, you won’t see the traffic increases that you deserve.
Ready to get started?

Tips To Increase Your Blog Traffic

1. Topic selection

If you decide to write about a topic that nobody is interested in, you’re going to struggle to get traffic, no matter how good your content is.
So how can you get a good idea of which topics to write about?
Reading a lot of other blogs and forums can be a great way to start, but there are also a bunch of tools that will help you here, for example:
    • Google Trends – This will show you a graph of how interest has increased/decreased over time.
    • BuzzSumo – This tool will show you which topics are generating the most social shares.
  • SEMrush – With this tool you can find out exactly what keywords your competitors are ranking for in Google and get an estimate of how much traffic those keywords can bring in.
The important thing here is to ensure that the topics you choose fit with your content strategy and are focused on helping your target audience.

2. SEO

SEO is simply submitting your website or blog to search engines and choosing the right keywords for your blog and also creating backlinks to your blog are undoubtedly important factors in getting free traffic.
This is an effective strategy because blog readers love information, and they will be reading widely on their subjects of interest. You can find plenty of potential visitors on other relevant blogs, forums, social media websites, so it is essential that you stay in touch with what’s out there, and create as many links back to your blog as you possibly can.
When you are compiling a post in WordPress or on any platform, make sure you follow standard on-page optimization rules.

3. Get Bloggers/Influencers To Write In Your Blog

If you really want to grow your audience, the key is to get influencers to write for you. This means reaching out to the bloggers in your niche with the largest social followings and the ability to write consistently excellent stuff, asking them to become contributors.
By getting these guys involved, you’ll not only be getting exceptional content for your blog (content that will hopefully earn you links and shares); you’ll also be getting access to a powerful distribution channel in the form of the influencer’s social network. Of course, unless your blog is super prestigious you will probably need to pay these bloggers to write for you, and you should definitely specify as part of the arrangement that they share the posts on social media. That being said, I think this option makes so much more sense than hiring a “general purpose” content creator.
As well as payment, you could also offer bloggers the following perks:
    • Offer to share content on their own site (but only if you have a large social following).
    • A link back to their website from every post they write for you.
  • Give them free use of your products or services

Working with influencers is a fantastic way to improve blog readership. A nice bonus is that often these guys write for other big media sites as well, so they may be able to link to something they have written for your blog from a third party site in the future.

4. Use Social Media Websites To Share Links To Your Articles

Twitter has 271 million active users every month. Facebook has over 1 billion active users. Google+ has over 300 million. LinkedIn is over 300 million. Together, these networks are attracting vast amounts of time and interest from Internet users around the world, and those that participate on these services fit into the “content distributors” description above, meaning they’re likely to help spread the word about your blog.
Leveraging these networks to attract traffic requires patience, study, attention to changes by the social sites and consideration in what content to share and how to do it.

5. Guest Post On Other Blogs (And Allow Guest Posts Of Others In Your Blog)

When you’re first starting out, it can be tough to convince other bloggers to allow you to post on their sites OR have an audience large enough to inspire others to want to contribute to your site. This is when friends and professional connections are critical.

When you don’t have a compelling marketing message, leverage your relationships – find the folks who know you, like you and trust you and ask those who have blog to let you take a shot at authoring something, then ask them to return the favor.

Guest blogging is a fantastic way to spread your brand to new folks who’ve never seen your work before, and it can be useful in earning early links and references back to your site, which will drive direct traffic and help your search rankings (diverse, external links are a key part of how search engines rank sites and pages).

Conclusion

Obviously there’s no substitute for producing great content but I hope this post has shown that there are many other ways to increase blog traffic independent of the content itself.
Most of these tactics are simply about squeezing the most out of what you have  already. So in terms of sharing, you can make sure you post more than once and optimise your tweet text. In terms of SEO, you can ensure that your contents are friendly (in a natural and non-spammy way, of course). And in terms of strategy you can make sure that influencers write for you and that you come up with smart ways to repurpose this material.
If you’re currently running a company blog that no one cares about, I hope these tips can help put a smile on your boss’s face. But most of all, I hope you never have to face low traffic issues again.

Benefits Of Using Custom Domain Name For Your Blog

Published

on

What Is Custom Domain?

Custom domains are domains like www.example.com(or .net, .online, .org, .blog etc). In this post I will tell you about the benefits of having custom domain.

A custom domain name, is a domain name you buy from a domain dealer/company online.

Do you want to become a professional blogger? If yes, then you should consider having a custom domain on your blog.

Most bloggers start with the free domains such as www.example.blogspot.com or www.example.wordpress.com because the blogging investment is zero.

According to shoutmeloud, that is a safe way to start, but as someone who is looking forward to creating a career in blogging, that is huge mistake.

Shoutmeloud further emphasized that, those bloggers who use free blogging platform usually don’t like to invest in custom domain. They feel they can always change to a custom domain when they are getting more traffic. But that is so untrue.

DISADVANTAGES OF USING FREE DOMAIN

1. You lose domain authority when you switch to a custom domain, because you might have droven lots of traffic to your blog. When you then think of getting a custom domain, your traffic will go back to zero.

2. You can only use google adsense to monetize your blog (that is if its blogspot). And am sure you know they can be unpredictable. If your account is banned by adsense, you can not reapply which means you will have to try alternatives. Don’t be surprised that some alternatives have stricter rules than adsense.

3. When you later buy a custom domain, you will need to submit a sitemap to all search engine again.

4. You will need to update your blog`s url on all social media.

ADVANTAGES/BENEFITS OF HAVING A CUSTOM DOMAIN

1. You have better exposure in search engines, especially google

2. You increase your chance of getting approval by AdSense

3. Makes you look professional and users will find your blog trustworthy

4. Credibility: Getting a custom domain is a good signal of how seriously you take your business or blogging career

6. If you are business owner, custom domains also help your business get found online more easily.

WHERE TO BUY A CUSTOM DOMAIN AT A CHEAPER RATE

My favorite domain provider is Namecheap.com. They are good to go for and their customer support is superb as they are 24/7 ready to attend to your complaints. Scroll up to the header of this very blog and search for your preferred domain to buy. You can buy now and use later.
NOTE: Before you can use your custom domain on wordpress self-hosted blog, you will need to buy a hosting plan from a reputable company which Namecheap is one. For more info, contact me (to create a self hosted blog for you) here sirphren@gmail.com

P.S: I can buy a domain and set it up for you on your blogspot. Download my book on how to create a blog here.
